How to Play E♭ on Recorder
E♭ on the recorder is written in the top space. It is the same note as D♯, so the fingering below works for both.
Sounds an octave higher
E♭
Cover or press: left second finger, left third finger, right first finger, right second finger and right third finger (both small holes).
Thumb and left first finger off; the other fingers stay down, but keep the right pinky up.
Nearby notes
C♯ / D♭
Thumb off; first two fingers down.
D
Thumb off; only the left middle finger stays down.
E
Pinch the thumb: bend it so a small gap opens at the top of the thumb hole.
F
Like low F with the thumb pinched and the pinky up: right middle finger up, right ring finger down.
See every note on one page in the recorder fingering chart.
